Solicitor Advocate Course: Foundations 1 & 2
Wednesday 22, Thursday 23, Saturday 25 May | Online
Required pre-reading will be sent to registered attendees two weeks prior to the course start date. It is recommended that attendees set aside at least one day to properly review material prior to attendance.
In this intensive online advocacy course you will increase your skill base for advocacy work in courts and tribunals and enhance your ability to deliver personalised and effective advocacy. The course consists of a combination of interactive general sessions and performance sessions in breakout groups. Tasks include applying for/opposing an application or plea, examining and cross-examining a witness and presenting a closing argument.
Foundations/Building on Foundations
This is a course for practitioners who have experience in advocacy but are looking at building on and expanding their knowledge in the fundamentals. This course is built for lawyers who appear before the courts or tribunal regularly. You will be placed into a breakout group reflective of your level of experience. This means solicitor advocates who may have already completed a Foundations course will be placed into the ‘Building’ group on registration.
Participants are recommended to complete no more than one Solicitor Advocate Course per calendar year.
Course registrations are strictly limited to ensure each participant is afforded the opportunity to receive tailored and targeted advocacy advice from their instructors. We will create a wait list for people that are interested and available for the course. Please be aware that it may shorten your preparation time.
