Required pre-reading will be sent to registered attendees one week prior to the course start date. It is recommended that you set aside at least one day to properly review material prior to attendance. Subject to availability, participants may have the opportunity to register after the official registration deadline. However, please note that this will result in a reduced timeframe to complete the required reading.

In this intensive online advocacy course you will increase your skill base for advocacy work in courts and tribunals and enhance your ability to deliver personalised and effective advocacy. In particular, you will examine the case theory as it relates to evidence-in-chief, cross-examination and final submissions. The course is built for legal practitioners who appear before the courts or tribunal regularly and consists of a combination of interactive general sessions and performance sessions in breakout groups. Tasks include applying for/opposing an application or plea, examining and cross-examining a witness and presenting a closing argument.

The Foundations courses are designed for practitioners who have experience in advocacy but are looking at building on and expanding their knowledge in the fundamentals. You will be placed into a breakout group reflective of your level of experience. This means solicitor advocates who may have already completed a Foundations 1 course will be placed into a Foundations 2 group on registration.

Participants are recommended to complete no more than one Solicitor Advocate Course per calendar year.
