The Standard Mental Health First Aid for Legal Professionals Course teaches participants how to provide initial support to a co-worker, client or another adult who may experience a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received, or the crisis resolves. The course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
In a safe and supportive environment, you will learn practical mental health first aid skills to equip you to:
- recognise common mental health conditions
- provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based action plan
- seek appropriate professional help
- respond in a crisis situation
The 12-hour course consist of a blended learning approach which includes:
- Online self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours), followed by;
- 4-hour face-to-face session.
The eLearning will be available 2-4 business days after registration has been received. All eLearning must be completed by Monday 16 June, prior to attending the face-to-face session.
On completion of the course you will receive a digital Certificate of Accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider. Accreditation is valid for three years and you must complete the eLearning, live workshop and online assessment to become accredited.
