In this Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course you will build the skills and knowledge to recognise and assist adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. The course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. In a safe and supportive and supportive environment, you will learn practical mental health first aid skills to equip you to:
- recognise common mental health conditions
- provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based action plan
- seek appropriate professional help
- respond in a crisis situation
The 12-hour course is held over two days, conducted by QLS’s accredited MHFA instructor. The registration fee includes course materials and morning and afternoon tea for both days.
On completion of the course and an online assessment, you will receive a digital Certificate of Accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider. Accreditation is valid for three years. You must attend both days of the course to become accredited.
