Queensland Law Society's final In-House Lawyers Breakfast of 2024 is coming to the Gold Coast!

The series brings together the local in-house practitioner community to hear from leaders in their field, whilst enjoying a delicious breakfast and coffee. We’re happy to announce our speaker, James Minchinton, General Counsel of Gilmour Space Technologies.

As a practitioner working in the niche but growing space sector, he finds himself orbiting the intersection of law, technology, defence, industry and government relations. James will launch into insights such as:

  • The scope of his role and organisation, and what makes it unique
  • What emerging challenges he and his broader team are facing
  • How he helps to navigate legal uncertainty in an emerging and sometimes nebulous area of law
  • His advice within the in-house counsel community


Working in this field opens up an interesting conversation around Space Law and how it is taking off, which encompasses matters including international legal issues, safety issues, preventing space debris, space traffic management, liability for damages, commercial and ethical use of space, defence and security, domestic regulation and international cooperation.
