The Children’s Law Masterclass will focus on advocacy for young people in Queensland. This Masterclass has been designed for solicitors looking to deepen their understanding in a specialised area of practice. You will have the opportunity to engage with our presenters while you are invited to collaborate on a practical case study.
During these workshops you will gain:
- An update on the current state of play for Youth Justice in Queensland, including recent changes to sentencing principles and practices
- In-depth analysis dealing with admissions and the admissibility of evidence including how report writing and disclosures made under the Mental Health Act 2016 (Qld) may prejudicially impact the young person
- A case study, which deals with admissibility issues, advocacy principles and other problems that arise when working with stakeholders of varying levels of legal knowledge.
Presenters:
Laura Reece, Barrister, Queensland Bar
